Curious about the ice globes trending on social media but reluctant to Google ‘facial balls’? Here’s your explainer.

Ice globes: everything to know about the skincare gadget breaking the Internet

Ice globes, or cryo globes, are the extreme cold skincare tools rapidly taking over the skincare gadget game, with 67.8 billion total TikTok views.

The first to cross my radar was Monica Tolan’s Cryo Globes, €99, which now have a permanent home in my fridge – they’re dreamy for a hungover, puffy or irritated face, and especially delicious when you glide them over a sheet mask. You leave them in your fridge or freezer, then massage your face with them; they leave you glowing, with skin tighter, smoother and depuffed and they reduce redness, inflammation, fine lines and pores.

“If you need to wake up quickly, incorporating ice tools, like Cryo Globes, into your morning cleanse will rapidly lift and tighten the skin,” says skin expert Corinna Tolan. “They reduce puffiness and give the appearance that you have been up for hours preparing for a morning meeting. Cryo Globes are like a swim at sunrise without having to leave your home/office.”

The Charlotte Tilbury Cryo-Recovery Face Mask is another miraculous hero that combines acupressure and cryotherapy for instantly refreshed skin. Don’t think you would commit to a skincare gadget? Vegan skincare brand Skin Proud – which has recently launched in Boots – have a gel-to-ice moisturiser called Frozen Over, which has also been viral on with over 1.9 million views. It’s bitingly, numbingly frosty on the face, and wakes you right up, thanks to an ultra-hydrating hyaluronic acid that soothes tired skin that’s overdone from December. I use mine in combination with ice globes – it’s like a Wim Hof facial.
