HAY Rice Paper Shade

16 ceiling light shades and fittings that look more expensive than they are

Your ceiling light is an important aspect in any room, but you don’t have to spend a fortune to find a design that ticks all the right boxes.

Light fittings are one of those things that, until you have to buy one, you don’t realise how expensive they can be. Even if you’ve never personally purchased a sofa, or a dining table, their sheer size means you’re not surprised by how much they cost.

The cost of a light shade or fitting, however, can perhaps be more than you would expect, although like anything, there is a huge range in prices.

They are, though, hugely important to the overall feeling and balance of your space. Not only will their texture and shape sit (usually) in the centre of your room, they will also affect how light is distributed around the space when they’re illuminated.

It’s not necessary to spend a fortune to find a beautiful design for your space, but it can take a little rooting around, so we’ve found 16 designs, all under €100.
