We love to support Irish here at IMAGE.ie and one of our favourite athleisure brands has just celebrated a major milestone in their success story.

Proudly designed in Ireland, Gym+Coffee was created in 2017 by three friends on a mission to bring high-quality athletic clothing to a nation that was quickly making the corner café and Ireland’s stunning natural landscape their new social hubs.

Launched just seven years ago, they’ve achieved a lot since then – having sold two million items in Ireland alone. They’ve also recorded a 20% year-on-year online growth across the UK and Ireland and have served customers in more than 80 countries. Most recently, they welcomed their one-millionth customer in-store – if that’s not the very definition of an Irish success story, I don’t know what is.

One million customer orders in Ireland is a massive milestone for the company which has established itself as one of the nation’s favourite sportswear, gym wear and athleisure wear brands. Their hoodies are the most recognisable products but they currently have over 300 premium items ranging from leggings to t-shirts, fleeces and shorts, all designed for working out and chilling out.

It goes without saying that hitting such a milestone is an incredible achievement for an Irish brand in such a competitive space. “We have been so lucky over the last seven years that the people of Ireland passionately support local businesses and have shown us such massive support,” CEO and Co-Founder Niall Horgan said of the news. Hitting our millionth order in Ireland is honestly hard to wrap your head around when you think that there are only five million people total here, and on average we see almost two items per order”.

“It’s been a rollercoaster journey since starting out, with one product and no customers seven years ago to where we are today. We’ve had some really challenging moments but to think there are almost two million Gym+Coffee products in circulation in Ireland is absolutely crazy! It’s still an amazing feeling when we see somebody proudly wearing Gym+Coffee out and about.”

Leonie Dennison was the lucky one-millionth customer, who was surprised with a €1,000 gift card at the till at the flagship store in Dundrum Town Centre this week. What’s next for the business? The Gym+Coffee team has its sights set on growing the international side of the business and now boasts some high-profile retailer partners across the UK and beyond.

“It’s been amazing to scale the business to where we are in Ireland but our ambition is to replicate that across the world,” Horgan later added. “While the UK was initially a more challenging market to enter, we’re now seeing really positive signs with the online side of Gym+Coffee being up 20% year on year in the UK.”

Founder Niall Horgan confirms that 2024 will be another big year for the business, with over 35 new retail partnerships across the UK including Next, Very and Debenhams, and plans to finalise distribution deals across the Middle East and Asia.

If you’re in the market for some new gear, they’ve just kicked off a massive Thank You Week (running until April 2) and will be offering surprises, discounts, gifts and special offers to customers, both online and in-store.
