Looking for a little Christmas lift? There is only one lingerie shop to visit
Dominique McMullan’s lingerie situation needed an upgrade - enter Susan Hunter Lingerie.
I am a woman of nearly 40 years old, and it’s time for my lingerie situation to get an upgrade. I have spent too long wearing ugly bras that don’t give me proper support. Too many times, I have visited well-known department stores, trying to change this situation, and left feeling deflated (pardon the pun). I have spent too long in sweaty changing rooms with garish overhead lighting. Too many brusk middle-aged women have manhandled me, and told me I have been wearing the wrong size ALL my life (why do they always say that), and proceeded to shove various skin coloured atrocities into the room.
No more.
Enter Susan Hunter Lingerie and its new owner, Daina Creedon.
Susan Hunter Lingerie is a small (but perfectly formed) boutique in The Westbury Mall. Upon entering this Aladdin’s Cave of lingerie, you immediately feel surrounded by luxury. The fabrics of the items on display call out to be touched. From the finest silk, to the purest softest cotton; from the lightest cashmere, to natural, beautiful wool – these are the fabrics that deserve to be on our bodies, touching our skin.
The service at Susan Hunter is exceptional. It is helpful, without being intrusive. Just the right amount of assistance is offered. My request was simple: I was looking for a pretty, everyday bra, and I wanted to be measured. Daina was able to tell my size by simply looking at me, but a gentle (clothes on) touch around my bra strap confirmed it. She then passed me in four of the most exceptionally beautiful bras I have ever seen, each with support so well-made that I see a part of my rib cage that I didn’t know existed.

Lingerie isn’t just about looking good; it’s about feeling confident and comfortable every single day. While it might be tempting to grab the cheapest set, investing in high-quality lingerie pays off in ways that go beyond aesthetics. And at Susan Hunter, the team knows this.
“It’s better to own a few well-made pieces than a drawer full of uncomfortable bras”, says Daina. “High-quality materials last longer, support better, and feel more luxurious against the skin. That, ladies and gentlemen, is what we are here for.”

What else did I learn from my experience? First and foremost, fit and support matter. A well-constructed bra provides proper support, improves posture, and can even reduce back or shoulder strain. Quality lingerie brands spend time on detailed sizing, durable materials, and expert tailoring, ensuring pieces fit correctly and comfortably. This isn’t just luxury; it’s long-term care for your body.
Durability is another big factor. High-end lingerie is crafted from premium fabrics such as silk, fine lace, and reinforced elastics. These materials hold up over time, maintain their shape, and survive repeated washes, unlike fast-fashion pieces that wear out after a few uses. In the long run, investing in a few exquisite items often costs less than continuously replacing cheaper alternatives.
There’s also an emotional component. Wearing lingerie that feels luxurious can elevate your mood, boost confidence, and transform an ordinary day into a moment of self-care. The right piece can make you feel poised, powerful and feminine… and that kind of boost is priceless.
Looking for a little Christmas lift? I can’t recommend a visit more.
