LFW Trend Alert: Sweat Beads

LFW Trend Alert: Sweat Beads

sweatbeads

Hurray for the Sweaty Bettys among us; glistening beads of sweat across our brow are now considered ‘angelical’, refreshing and the height of fashion. ‘What?’ I hear you say. Yes, this comes straight from the catwalks of London Fashion Week and it is a real thing, we kid you not.

Once cast aside as the very opposite of glamour, frowned upon for suggesting that perhaps you had forgotten to shower that day, this look (that usually goes hand in hand with a bad smell) was quite the head-turner at LFW.

Created by Andrew Gallimore, chief make-up artist for Teatum Jones, this look didn’t quite involve putting the models through their paces on the treadmill minutes before the show, but rather, Gallimore spending hours melting a particular kind of gel in the microwave before carving the gel into the sweat bead shapes. As per the artist via The Telegraph, this look is ‘Inspired by a young Nina Simone, the Teatum Jones girl is in an evangelical frenzy.’

While we’re not quite sure if this is a beauty trend we’ll be hopping on board with, there’s no denying it’s a novel idea. Why shouldn’t our raw, adrenaline-fuelled state be considered beautiful? Between this and Marc Jacobs stripping his models back to bare faces, it seems the natural look is very much en vogue.
