Inside Adwoa Aboah’s beauty routine

Read time: 4 minutes

Model, founder of Gurls Talk and Rimmel London’s first global brand activist, Adwoa Aboah shares her beauty must-haves.

I’ve been wearing a lot of the Rimmel Wonder’Cloud Eyeshadows, €9.45, at the moment. The colours are great and it’s super-easy to use.

I like a natural look, so a brushed brow – with Rimmel Wonder’Full Brow, €8.45, and then a simple lip are my go-to looks. I wear the Rimmel Exaggerate Automatic Lip Liner in Addiction, €9.99.

I’ve been really focusing on my skin recently. I love Augustinus Bader The Cream, €265; it’s quite expensive, but really good.

I like a good face mask to put some moisture back into my skin; Sisley does a great cleansing mask that I use. I have also suffered from acne scarring from time to time, so I like to use a bit of vitamin C to help with that – it’s really helped to heal my skin.

My beauty regime varies. At night, I like to have a bath, and I’m really into sheet masks right now, as I think they make your skin look and feel amazing. I use Palmer’s Cocoa Butter, €5.99, and Dr Paw Paw cream for moisture, and they smell incredible.

Sometimes I might use my ice roller on my face to reduce any puffiness, and it’s quite therapeutic too.

At night, I might do a bit more with my make-up, so I might wear Rimmel Wonder’Cloud Eyeshadow, €9.45, on my eyes and Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick, €2.45. I’m not usually a big wearer of anything heavy, so I’ll probably do a natural skin look with some colour here and there to brighten the look a bit, but other than that it’s usually pretty minimal.

My beauty routine in three words is simple, easy, effortless.

I am the worst person ever for winding down, but I do love a bath with a good scented candle – Diptyque are my favourites.

I brought out a line of journals with Papier, and journalling has helped me in the past to translate my thoughts into language I can use to process my emotions and grow as a person. I’m also a big reader and that helps too.

One of my mantras is ‘get out of your own way’ and I think that aligns with what it means to be a bold individualist. It’s all about noticing what you’ve already got and finding the courage to just enhance it – it’s time to stop caring so much about what everyone else thinks and just be you.

I like to be comfortable, so during the day I wear a brushed eyebrow and some mascara. Obviously, when I’m modelling that’s different, and you can’t really go wrong with a bright red lip – it’s always going to be an iconic look.

I love London and I’ve loved growing up here. I grew up in West London and the styles and the people are so eclectic. To me, embracing and appreciating the mix of different people and interests that London offers is what ‘Living the London Look’ means. You can’t get a more diverse and culturally rich city in my opinion. And Rimmel really compliments it, their make-up provides the tools for you to experiment and be yourself because no two people are the same – Rimmel says be yourself, I’d say I’m still figuring it out.
