Inside the beauty routine of Hyram Yarbro, the Internet’s most powerful skinfluencer

Hyram Yarbro, ex-Mormon turned the Internet’s most powerful skinfluencer has a combined following of over 12 million and can make or break a beauty brand. Here he shares his beauty must-haves with Holly O’Neill.

Three products I always have in my routine are a deep cleaning, gentle cleanser like the Selfless by Hyram Centella and Green Tea Hydrating Gel Cleanser, €19, a good exfoliating serum like the Selfless by Hyram Mandelic Acid and Rice Bran Gentle Exfoliating Serum, €23 and sunscreen. My current favourite is the Bliss Block Star SPF 30, €24.99.

A product that’s always on my nightstand is The Krave Beauty Great Barrier Relief, €49. I love wearing it overnight to help repair my moisture barrier any time I’ve had a lot of sun exposure, need extra moisture, or help reduce redness and sensitivity. It’s a staple in my routine!

The first thing I put on my skin in the morning is the Selfless by Hyram Centella and Green Tea Hydrating Gel Cleanser, €19. I like to cleanse my face in the shower as I get ready for the day!

The last beauty-related thing I do before I go to bed is always making sure to apply a good lip balm before I go to sleep because my lips get really dry overnight. My current favourites are the Kosas Kosasport Lipfuel, €20, and the Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask, €24.

The one product I always use or always return to is the Selfless by Hyram Retinol and Rainbow Algae Repair Serum, €29. It’s my go-to because it’s the best way of ensuring I’m preventing and repairing damage within my skin while boosting my skin’s moisture. I never skip using my retinol regularly!

The first beauty product I ever bought was the BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturiser SPF30, €34.50, at Sephora. I still like this product and the ingredients, although I rarely wear tinted moisturizers anymore.

My signature scent is Tom Ford Neroli Portofino, 100ml, €287. This fragrance is so immersive and I always get compliments whenever I wear it. It’s the biggest splurge of my beauty routine!

I never travel without The First Aid Beauty Niacinamide Eye Cream, €28.45. My dark circles tend to get worse when I’m switching time zones, and I tend to overwork myself when I travel, so the corrective eye cream is great for minimizing the darkness.

I love to cleanse with either my cleanser or the Youth To The People Superfood Cleanser, €13.90. Both are my favourites and depending on my mood, I love using both in my routine!

My all-time favourite body lotion is Nécessaire The Body Lotion, €21.

My three hair favourites are Kérastase Resistance Ciment Thermique, €29.45, to protect my hair from heat damage, XMondo BDSM Slick and Define Balm by Brad Mondo, €21.95, to hold my hair and give it extra illumination, and the Dyson Supersonic, €399.99, because it dries my hair three times faster than any other blow dryer I’ve used without damaging it.

The last beauty item I bought was the Oribe Rough Luxury Molding Wax, €46, as it’s one of the best hair pomades I’ve ever used!

My three current obsessions are the Selfless by Hyram Salicylic Acid and Sea Kelp Pore Clearing and Oil Control Serum, €23. I love that it controls my oiliness and feels extremely lightweight on the skin! Also vegan food in New York City – I’m trying to be more conscious about what I eat, and I’m truly impressed with how amazing the selection is here! Also Illenium’s new music album, Fallen Embers. He’s my favourite music artist!

My all-time favourite moisturiser is the Selfless by Hyram Niacinamide and Maracujá Daily Barrier Support Moisturizer, €25.

The best beauty advice I ever received was to always be gentle with your skin! It’s tempting to want to use a lot of products, the strongest concentrations and be excessive with what we use. But when I started prioritizing my skin’s health and kept a minimal routine, my skin drastically improved, and I’ve seen this work for so many others.

I’ve always wanted to get porcelain veneers. My teeth have always been one of my biggest insecurities, and I’d love to one day get veneers to improve my smile – I’m too scared to do it yet though!

My one desert island beauty essential is sunscreen. Sun damage is responsible for 90% of premature ageing, and you know that desert island sun is going to be extra strong, so I have to have that protection. The worst beauty mistake I ever made was not wearing sunscreen until very late in my life. A lot of the sun damage we experience happens when we are kids, and I wish I would have known the benefits of daily sun protection! I actively work now to reverse the damage from my childhood.

My favourite skincare tool is using chilled spoons to depuff my under-eyes.

My weird beauty hack is I always press my skincare products into my skin when applying them. I noticed that when I press, rather than just rub, my products absorb better and my skin looks less greasy.

The one thing I wish everyone knew about skincare is certain products won’t work for everyone. As much as I wish I could recommend one skincare routine for everyone to use, everyone’s skin is different! That’s why it’s important to learn about what your skin needs so you can build a routine that is best for you.

I would like to try preventative botox one day! I’ve seen the benefits of using botox to prevent expression lines from prematurely developing, and being that I’m prone to premature ageing, I think I could benefit from it. I haven’t gotten any yet though!
