Hamilton is coming to the Bord Gáis to blow us all away

Alexander Hamilton may never be satisfied… but we sure will be as the Tony, Grammy, Olivier and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical is set to come to Dublin next year.

“We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Lin-Manuel Miranda’s multi-award-winning musical phenomenon Hamilton will come to Ireland for the very first time and play at Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre for a nine-week run,” the Bord Gáis said in a post confirming the news on Instagram this morning.

Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography, the musical opened at the newly re-built and restored Victoria Palace Theatre in London in December 2017 where it continues to play to sell-out houses… it’s currently booked out until March 2024 so that should give you an idea of just how popular it is.

The production also continues to play to record-breaking houses on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, throughout North America, in Toronto, Australia and Germany with forthcoming seasons in New Zealand an international tour also planned.

For those of you not familiar with the show (one question, how!?), Hamilton is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, it’s inspired by the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre – a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education.

A brand-new company for the UK and Ireland tour is currently being assembled from over 3,000 hopeful artists with the official cast to be announced very soon.

Though the news was only officially announced this morning, teasers began appearing online and across Dublin yesterday evening and judging by the reaction, people are very excited.

Due to run for nine weeks, the show will play here from Tuesday, 17 September to Saturday, 16 November 2024. Set to blow us all away, tickets go on sale at 9am Friday 28 April 2023 through Ticketmaster… so make sure you’re in the room where it happens. You don’t want to throw away your shot, now do you?
