Social Pictures: The Irish premiere of Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City

A whole host of familiar faces stepped out for the Irish premiere of Wes Anderson's highly anticipated new release, Asteroid City.

Ahead of its opening in Irish cinemas nationwide on Friday 23 June, a select few were invited along to an advance screening of Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City.

Taking place on Wednesday 21 June in the Light House Cinema, the Irish premiere began with a complimentary martini upon arrival before guests got comfortable to watch the new release starring Maya Hawke, Scarlett Johansson, and Tom Hanks.

Among those in attendance were broadcaster Brendan Courtney, singer-songwriter Loah, fashion designer Lia Cowan, fashion stylist Aisling Farinella, jewellery designer Sarah Carroll Kelly of Shock of Grey, and celebrity chef Adrian Martin.

Other guests in attendance included interior designer Roisin Lafferty, fashion stylist Adam Walsh, accessories designers’ Aisling Kavanagh, as well as Margaret O’Connor, Natasha Sherling, and Gill Henderson from Jill & Gill.

Asteroid City takes place in a fictional American desert town circa 1955. The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organised to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition) is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.

ASTEROID CITY stars Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan and Jeff Goldblum.
