Weather-appropriate and stylish running gear is not a thing of myths

Weather-appropriate and stylish running gear is not a thing of myths

Do you ever feel the urge to just run? A lot of people will probably say no. For many though, running is a necessary piece to the puzzle of striking the delicate work-life balance.

It’s quite liberating and freeing: just you, your footsteps, your breath and your heartbeat. It’s beautifully primal.

Some people run for purpose – marathon training or endurance, some run for socialising and meeting new people. For others, it’s valued “me” time that might only come around once or twice a week.

Whether you’re a regular runner or just beginning your first steps to a 5k, failing to invest in the right kit (or any kit at all, really) can hinder your performance. Relying solely on a pair of trainers and self-discipline doesn’t work for everyone, but the right leggings or shorts, in combination with the right trainers, can help you go the extra mile. But there’s a very rational reason to invest in the good gear too: when temperatures drop it becomes less and less enticing to run – doesn’t it?

When dressing to run in the cold, remember that once you get moving, your body heats up fast, which could result in you feeling too warm if you’re bundled up. The opposite is also true: Once you stop running, you’ll cool down very quickly, so get out of wet clothes asap.

Help improve your winter running routine with these winter wardrobe essentials. See you at the starting line!
