The Weird And Wonderful Accessories Trends You Need For SS17

The Weird And Wonderful Accessories Trends You Need For SS17

The weird and wonderful?things you didn’t know you needed to recharge your wardrobe for?SS17…

The hot weather (kind of?) is approaching which means we can finally start to banish our turtle-neck jumpers and long-sleeved layers to the back of the wardrobe. Here are five?accessories trends to invest in this month to get your wardrobe in shape for summer 2017.

Fishnet Fetish?

Fishnet tights are having a major comeback this season, and if you’re not ready to commit to the full look, fishnet socks are a great way to work the trend into your wardrobe. Fishnet socks are the perfect intermediary accessory while the seasons are changing. They cleverly allow your feet to breathe and stay comfortable, all while looking fashion-forward and edgy. If you’re not ready to splash out on hosiery, you can grab a pair on AliExpress for as little as €1. I’m loving artist and designer Lirika Matoshi‘s beautifully delicate and intricate embellished bespoke fishnet tights. For those of you looking for tights festooned with flowers, celestial stars, springtime bee’s, or a more-simplified motif, Matoshi is the woman for the job.

Be In The Kno(se)

This season,?American based jewellery designer Chris Habana?was the season’s most sought after talent for the?unique and eye-catching septum jewellery he created for some of the industry’s?biggest names.?Chromat’s?Becca McCharen-Tran’s show at New York Fashion Week was one of the first of the season to embrace the septum trend, adding?Habana’s?tribal-inspired bull-like septum ring to really vamp up her sports-lux pieces. Similarly, Michelle Alessandro – Gucci’s beautifully bizarre creative director – sent his models down the catwalk sporting abstract septum jewellery too; perfectly juxtaposing with his whimsical?and delicate dresses. Nothing screams “edgy” quite like stainless steel jutting out the sides of your nostrils… Luckily, though, you don’t have to pierce any holes through your nose to take part in this trend because there are lots of faux septum rings available if you’re not ready to fully commit.

?Personalised Jewellery

If bold accessories are your vibe coming into summer, then Australian label Doodad & Fandango will tickle your accessory taste buds. Founder Nikita Margarita adapted her unique style from Japan’s late 1990s street fashion scene, and the costume jewellery heyday of the 1930s to 1950s, and her work encapsulates her love of colour and pop art. What’s more, she can even create custom-made earrings to look just like you. And in the age of vanity, nothing says “look at me” quite like a stylised picture of yourself on your ear.

If you’re a home-bird like me then you’ll adore Love&Robots personalised map necklace. Simply enter your location, choose between sterling silver, rose-gold plated, or gold-plated, and you’re ready to take a little bit of home with you wherever in the world you might be.

Belt It Up

Figure-flattering bold belts have made a triumphant return to the spotlight. Belts are an ingenious way to renew, brighten, and tighten any outfit and tie together any ensemble to look chic, sophisticated, and on trend. I adore this Valentino embellished metallic textured-leather and suede belt. the bright colours are exactly what my wardrobe needs for the changing season. Pair with jeans for a toned-down daytime look or tie around a delicate midi dress for a chic springtime look.

Walking Pink

What better to embrace the colour of the season than on your feet? A?colour traditionally associated with hyper-femininity, we’re now seeing pink on the biggest male and female catwalks including Gucci, Valentino, Miu Miu, Balenciaga, and Prada – and I, for one, am loving it. These Gucci Princetown pink leather loafers (bottom left) are definitely on my SS17 wish list.
