Five revamped trench coats to suit every woman’s style

Five revamped trench coats to suit every woman’s style

Trench coats are always a firm favourite among the fashion crowd. They’re the trusty transitional outerwear we’re all guilty of returning to season after season. Keeping the spring chill at bay and protecting ourselves from April showers is what keeps the trench coat at the top of our spring wish-list, in particular. This season, the traditional trench coat style has been given a shake-up. Forget the clean lines, military-style structure and tanned hues it has always been known for. Deconstruction, oversized and colour are the new buzzwords. This new twist on our favourite wardrobe staple has opened up so many new wardrobe possibilities…

Colour popping brights are a major trend this season. This vivid shade of green adds punch to a traditional trench and adds interest to what is otherwise quite a conventional coat.

This sweet take on the trench coat is sheer bliss. Gone are the military-style restrictions of structure and shape. Instead, this sprinkling of spring-time drapes easily on the shoulders for a beautifully feminine look.

Although this trench comes in a traditional shade of tan, the oversized fit and sporty side stripes freshen it up completely, bringing an unexpected hint of athleisure to the piece.

A feminine bow on what is usually a masculine-looking coat creates a strong and very stylish contrast. The deep shade of navy is very flattering and will look good whatever the season.

We all know that pastels are no friend to Irish skin tones. So when this year’s Pantone colour of the year turned out to be sugary lilac, our fashion hungry hearts dropped. But there’s always a way to make trends work for you. Try this gorgeous lilac trench layered over colours that have more depth so you won’t look washed out.
