Upgrade your tea break with a cool new mug

Looking for a cool new mug to add to your home collection? One can never have too many vessels from which to drink tea...

Autumn is oft dubbed ‘soup season’, but the ever-worsening weather means that we’re craving hot drinks of any kind. As Irish people, we’re already predisposed to tea/coffee drinking but nothing tempts us to boil the kettle more than a gorgeous new mug.

Here are some of our current favourites.

Bee Mug, €14, Urban Outfitters

Loaf Pottery Marigold Mug, approximately €20.65, Loaf Catering

Helen Faulkner Terracotta Mug, €20, Irish Design Shop

The Medium Mug, €45, Arran St East

Meteor 70s Ceramic Cappuccino Mugs, €34, April + The Bear

Jules Mug, €19, Article

Carolyn Donnelly Eclectic Ditsy Mug, €5, Dunnes Stores

Harlie Brown Studio Mug, €50, Anthropologie

Nicholas Mosse Small Mug Old Rose, €30, Kilkenny Shop

Top Dog Yellow Ceramic Mug, €14.50, Oliver Bonas

Babar™ Stoneware Mug, €9.99 , Zara Home

Now that you’ve decided on The One™, next on the agenda is what to fill your cup with. We asked the Minor Figures team for some at-home coffee hacks/recipes you can try yourself. Here’s what they had to say.

Our 1L ready-to-drink latte and mocha are the latest additions to the Minor Figures bunch, helping to hack the perfect coffee straight from the carton. Below are a few different ways you can use them at home – you know, if you don’t fancy drinking it straight from the carton, that is.

Barista-style mochas/lattes

Kind of obvious but, did you know that you can actually heat up our Latte and Mocha concoctions? Shake well and steam, or simply froth using your preferred at-home device to create a delicious hot latte. You can do this with the Mocha too.

Adult mini-milks

For those who prefer cold drinks, homemade caffeinated mini-milks are just the trick. Just pour the mocha or latte into a reusable ice lolly maker. Make sure you stir at half an hour intervals to ensure they set properly.

White Russians

If you’ve been craving a White Russian and your local corner shop doesn’t stock coffee liqueur, we might be able to save you. All you need is rum, sugar, vodka and our 1l latte in the house and you can make a pale imitation that tastes just as good. Add 15ml of rum to four heaped teaspoons of sugar, stir, add a 25ml shot of vodka, add 200ml of Latte and pour over ice. Et voilà, emergency White Russians.

Overnight mocha-oats

Too busy in the mornings to make breakfast or coffee? Soak your oats in our mocha drink mocha overnight so you can grab it before you leave the house. We may be biased, but this is surprisingly good – the sweetness of the oats compliments our Mocha perfectly.

Fancy cereal

You’re too busy in the morning to waste time on making breakfast and coffee, so save yourself the hassle and consume both at the same time! Either pour the latte over your cornflakes or make porridge with our mocha drink.
