Three for Tuesday: Long-wearing foundations for your Christmas nights out

Three for Tuesday: Long-wearing foundations for your Christmas nights out

Long-wearing foundations have a lot of pressure resting on them. They’ve to stay looking fresh for up to 24 hours (or more if you’re totally mad and can stay up that long!) while facing flaking skin, hands touching faces and more. Here are three I swear by…

The one that feels like skin

There’s a soft spot in my beautysphere for Bobbi Brown’s foundations. Likewise those buttery lip liners and stunning skin prep products too. But this, although its coverage is tops and it lasts (and lasts and lasts), it always looks like skin.

And more importantly, it feels like skin. You don’t feel like you’re witnessing a live pore-clogging short film and you don’t feel crazed to get home to wash it all off. The long wear dream, really.

The very full coverage one

This one is great for things like creating a very defined contour, or for carving out your brows. If full coverage is your jam, this is your buy.

However, I know this one did feel very much like I had a heavy coverage foundation on. For some, that protective feeling is good, but for me, I like to be a bit more breathable. That’s not to say I didn’t get a rake of compliments on my skin while wearing it, so it still looks good, by all accounts.

The studio-approved one

I really do enjoy a good Smashbox product encounter. I tried this earlier in the year and loved the finish. It’s matte and buildable coverage, I would say. But the added bonus of it looking incredibly good in pictures is why I’m so into it. Smashbox just give good pic, don’t they?
