16 satin shirts inspired by Zendaya’s flawless Oscars outfit

16 satin shirts inspired by Zendaya’s flawless Oscars outfit

One of our favourite looks from last night's red carpet, Zendaya wore a cropped satin shirt with a sequin skirt to this year's Academy Awards ceremony.

Queen Z did it again.

Arriving to the 94th Academy Awards in a Valentino Haute Couture outfit pulled together by her incredible stylist (and close friend) Law Roach, the two piece was just the right amount of demure and the body-hugging silhouette and flash of middriff kept it glamorous, while the extended train and jewellery brought the drama. But if the ensemble looked familiar, that’s because it was actually loosely based on another iconic outfit.

Proving that they’re not afraid to reference (or not reference), Zendaya and Roach clearly took their cues from the 90s and, as many Twitter-users pointed out, the outfit is reminiscent of one Sharon Stone wore to the 1998 Oscars ceremony almost 25 years ago. Turning up in a GAP shirt she had borrowed from her husband and a silk Vera Wang skirt, the legacy of that moment still lives on today and it’s just as chic now as it was back then.

Showing that button-up shirts can be much more fashionable than you might think, both women have us contemplating how to recreate their respective looks in real life. First step? Source a collared shirt.
