Real Weddings: Damien Broderick’s stunning Lake Tahoe elopement

by Edaein OConnell
23rd Jan 2026

Framed by the unrivalled mountain scenery of Lake Tahoe, Irish content creator Damien Broderick's elopement with his wife, Corinne, was nothing short of stunning.

THE COUPLE

Damien and Corinne Broderick.

THEY LIVE

In Portland, Oregon, USA.

THE VENUE

The mountains just by Lake Tahoe. We eloped in a small town where Corinne grew up.

THEY MET

On Instagram. We had done the long-distance thing for a bit. Then we decided to meet to see if the connection was the same in person. Thank god it was. And the rest is well, as they say, history.

THE PROPOSAL

I documented the whole thing on YouTube. I created a treasure hunt that led Corinne to spots that held meaning to us. The final clue led her to my proposal spot in the snow on Mount Hood.

THE DRESS AND THE SUIT

Corinne’s dress was by Watters at a&bé bridal shop, and my suit was made by Indochino. My shirt was made bespoke by 100hands.

Corinne’s rings are family diamonds reset in yellow gold by Michael K Diamonds. My rings are by Brian at Soul Engraver, and my watch was a vintage Rolex that was a gift from Corinne for our engagement.

THE CEREMONY

We eloped, so it was a small and intimate gathering of family in the mountains near Lake Tahoe.

THE RECEPTION

The reception took place a month later in Portland. My family travelled over from Ireland, and we had a formal meal in a lovely private dining space in Portland.

THE ENTERTAINMENT

Corinne was the entertainment – she always is. We eloped, so we didn’t have any.

THEIR TOP TIPS

Make sure to have your wedding day. We were talking about the type of wedding we wanted early on in our relationship. My idea of a nightmare is standing at the top of a church with 100+ eyes on me. Corinne always dreamt of getting married in the mountains where she grew up. I’m not a very flashy centre of attention sort of person. So, it was the perfect day. Corinne was happy, and she had a dream day, which meant I was happy.

THEY WISH THEY HAD

Where we got married was so remote that we couldn’t have everyone we wanted there. My family, for example, had to fly into Portland, and Corinne’s sister had a baby in October, so she and our brother-in-law couldn’t make the dinner. So ideally, we’d have had everyone in the same space at the same time, but it worked out just fine. We had the best time. Looking back, we wouldn’t change a thing.

THEIR BEST MOMENTS

Seeing Corinne in her dress for the first time and sharing a cigar with my brothers and my now father-in-law.

Our first dance.

THE FIRST DANCE SONG

Our first dance was a little unconventional. It was just the photographer and us. We were standing by a lake, and she asked us to dance. As we did, I softly sang Follow You by Bring Me The Horizon. I then started to cry, so I stopped, but we continued dancing.
