Life is all about a little pleasure – here, IMAGE staffer Helen Conway shares how she's learned to slow down and soak in life's little joys, from matcha dates with friends to girls’ nights with wine, good chats, and Magnum treats, of course.

As a type-A girl working in events, routine and structure is everything to me. There’s hardly a day that goes by that I don’t check my upcoming calendar or write a to-do list (even if sometimes it’s just to feel the satisfaction of crossing something off it).

However, it’s easy to get lost in structure – and this year, with milestones ahead (including my wedding and my 30th birthday), I have made a resolution to not allow planning to overwhelm the messy and magical process of embracing the moment. In doing so, I’ve rediscovered the beauty of small moments of indulgence, connection and relaxation.

We all know how hard it is to get the plans out of the group chat, but not all moments of connection need to be big, elaborate excursions. I love putting out a call for an impromptu girls’ night at home with whoever is around, which usually turns into a long, overdue yap complete with a glass of wine, picky bits, followed by a sweet treat – our current hyperfixation is the Milk Chocolate & Cherry Magnum Bonbons.

Remember the simple childhood joy of ringing on your friend’s doorbell and hoping they were home, just to have someone to wander around outside with for an hour before dinner? I’m trying to bring it back.

I’m lucky enough to live in a little home in the city centre with one of my best friends, in a 5K radius of a few other nearest and dearest. I’m getting into the habit of just seeing who is around to join me in doing the things I love the most – going for a matcha, sitting outside in the sunshine, wandering aimlessly around a gallery, fighting for my life in an evening reformer pilates class or rushing to the cinema on the first day of a film’s release – because I NEED to know what happens before everyone else.

Taking the time to simply exist, and do the small things that bring you joy, in the quiet company of people who recharge your battery – it beats the feeling of crossing everything off the longest to-do list in the world.

Available in four decadent flavours, Magnum Bonbons are the ultimate sharing treat to enjoy with friends, family or keep them just for yourself. Magnum. Designed for Pleasure. To learn more, visit www.magnumicecream.com.
