Tom Ford’s new leather scent is as sophisticated as they come

I know, you’re not mentally prepared to think about autumn yet, but just like a leather jacket, a leather scent is an autumn staple you’re thrilled to fish out again just as things begin to cool back down. Similar to a leather jacket, a leather scent is timeless, universally flattering and perpetually cool, and trust Tom Ford to have bottled that endless allure.

Tom Ford’s new Ombré Leather Parfum is unisex and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser and brings a new intensity to the scent the Texan designer specified to his perfumers should smell like his favourite pair of cowboy boots. It’s an admirably accurate depiction of luxe leather, and the new iteration builds on the tangible precision of the original. The new additions to the scent are violet leaf, cedarwood and floral Jasmine sambac absolute, adding a woody floral twang to the sultry, tough original – think Courtney Love pairing leather biker boots with a silk slip dress.

“Most of my scents explicitly capture some real aspects of my life,” said Tom Ford. “With Ombré Leather, every note is connected to the American west of my childhood. The new Parfum builds on the wild, unbridled sensuality of the original scent… it is a heightened expression.”

The new perfume is dressed in slick matte black glass with an ivory-tone vegan leather plaque and is available in 50ml and 100ml editions, plus a dinky 10ml if you’d like to take a more affordable whiff before you commit to the full flacon. Pair it with your leather jacket, of course.
