Wellness Diaries: Hannah Joyce, founder of Flexera

Hannah Joyce, the Mayo-born founder of Flexera, the at-home studio-grade Pilates machine disrupting the market, shares her self-care insights, tools and rituals.

I wake at… 7:30am or earlier if I hear Ralphie (my 6-month-old puppy) getting up.

The first thing I do every morning is… bring my puppy straight out to the garden—no easing into the day, we’re immediately in business.

My morning routine is… a quick walk to my local café (dangerously close at two minutes away) for takeaway coffee, followed by an at-home reformer session.

I can’t go to work without… a good breakfast and a second coffee—non-negotiable, sorry.

The self-care tool I use every day is… my reformer. Even five minutes of feet-in-straps and doing leg circles resets everything and sets me up for the day.

The best part of my day is… chatting with the team about all the exciting projects we have coming up.

The most challenging part of my day is… keeping clear boundaries between work and personal life—especially when you love what you do.

I engage with self-care every day by… meeting myself where I’m at—sometimes that’s a full workout, sometimes it’s just a slower moment of breathwork.

My daily self-care checklist routine includes… movement, good food, and at least one intentional pause.

The quickest, smallest thing I do for myself every day is… a few mindful minutes—whether that’s stepping outside or just taking a breath.

I know it’s been a good day if… I’ve moved my body and felt present, even briefly.

I switch off from work by… physically stepping away—closing the laptop and creating a clear break.

Before I go to bed, I’ll… Try (and sometimes fail) to stay off my phone, read a book and properly wind down.

After a long work week, I destress by… something intense like boxing, followed by completely switching off with a binge of The Real Housewives.

My go-to comfort meal is… pancakes—always.

When I really need a moment to myself, I always… step away and reset, even if it’s just for a few minutes.

Something I try to do for myself every day is… move my body in some way, no matter how small.

The most reflective moment in the day is… late evening, when everything finally quiets down.

The one person, place or thing guaranteed to give me joy is… my puppy—instant mood lift, every time.

I wish I could… switch off from work without thinking about what’s next.

Everyone should try… even five minutes on a reformer—it genuinely changes your day.
