With its own jetty, private driveway and spectacular views of the River Ilen and Roaring Water Bay, who wouldn’t want to snap up this house in Baltimore, Co Cork.

This five-bedroom house on five acres of land is actually located on the island of Ringarogy, just outside of Baltimore in West Cork. Connected to the mainland by a permanent causeway, it’s a secluded spot along one of the country’s most beautiful coastlines. Available for €1.5 million, the house also comes fully furnished.

Formerly a grain store during the Napoleonic period, the building was extensively restored and modernised in the early 2000s and is now a comfortable and spacious family home, with five bedrooms and six bathrooms.

Approached by a private shoreline drive that runs alongside the River Ilen before it reaches the Atlantic Ocean, the house is sequestered away by the mature trees and shrubs that surround it. Clad in Bangor Blue slate, the property also has a stand-alone triple-door garage beside the main entrance.

Inside, a double-height atrium greets you in this 557-square-foot house, with views right down to the river. In fact, nearly every room in the house has a view of the water. Off the hall is a study and TV, while to the left is a large and spacious kitchen that flows nicely onto a dining room and living area space.

The kitchen is large and bright, with its own glass room and seating area looking down onto the river. All of the kitchen surfaces are made of lava stove, hand-quarried from volcanic rock. Just off the kitchen is a utility and bathroom.

However, the central room on this floor is the sunroom to the rear, which opens onto the grassy peninsula and jetty. With three walls of glass, this space boasts spectacular views across Roaring Water Bay and beyond.

Upstairs are five bedrooms, all of which are ensuite and one with its own sauna. The master suite is more of a master wing, with a corridor that passes a palatial bathroom and his and hers dressing rooms before coming to a huge master bedroom that sits above the sunroom, looking directly over the magnificent views.

If country escape with all of the elements of modern life is what you’re after, then this might be the place for you.
