The Spice Girls are releasing a previously unheard track for their 25th anniversary

The limited-edition vinyl will include three versions of the song “Wannabe” along with a previously unreleased Spice Girls track.

The Spice Girls made a very exciting announcement this week, revealing that they have big plans in place to celebrate their 25th birthday.

Taking to Instagram to update fans on what they have in store, the famous 90s girl group confirmed that they’ll be releasing a limited edition vinyl of “Wannabe” in honour of it turning a quarter of a century old.

Speaking to the true nostalgics, they even plan on releasing it on cassette too. Does anyone still have a cassette player? I doubt it but practicality and sentimentality are usually mutually exclusive, so who cares.

A movement that “captured a generation”, the fivesome invited fans to join them in wandering down memory lane. Reminiscing on all the good times they had over the course of their career, they asked the public to help them mark the occasion by sending in clips of them singing, dancing or talking about what the group meant to them. Sharing a few of the submissions they’ve received already, a number of well-known faces can be seen in the video… including Adele who admitted that the fab five inspired her to run for her life and “never look back”.

Saying that they believe “there is a Spice Girl in all of us”, the group followed their first post up with a second – this one detailing the nitty gritty of their upcoming limited-edition vinyl. Including three different versions of “Wannabe” (the original single, a Junior Vasquez remix edit and a demo of the song), they also surprised fans with the news that the EP would also have a previously unreleased track on it too. Titled “Feed Your Love”, the song features vocals form all five of the original core members… yes, even Posh Spice.

Out digitally on July 9, the limited-edition vinyl and cassette will follow soon after on July 23, but you can pre-order now if you really, really, really wanna zigazig ah.

The second time that the girl group has been in the headlines in a very short space of time, they reunited (albeit virtually) just last week when Vic got the gang together in aid of her Pride month tees. Released in partnership with the Albert Kennedy Trust, it’s the third year that Mrs Beckham has teamed up with the charity. Plain white, with the words “Proud and wannabe your lover” emblazoned in rainbow colours across the chest, 100% of the profits made from sales will go to straight to the charity who work to combat LGBTQI+ youth homelessness in the UK.

Commenting on what inspired her to come up with the merch, a statement from VB said, “Pride to me is a celebration of being completely yourself and this year’s T-shirt is a reminder of that. The Spice Girls really championed accepting yourself and others, being kind, having fun and just living your best life. The LGBTQ+ community is so close to my heart and I’m so proud to be supporting Pride 2021 with AKT (Albert Kennedy Trust) again this year.”

To quote the group, let love lead the way.
