Summer Serves: Here’s how to shake up the perfect Spicy Watermelon Margarita

When the sun shines, a spicy margarita is the only thing that will truly quench your thirst. Here’s how to make the perfect marg at home…

Spicy Watermelon Margarita

When it comes to finding the ultimate elixir for these warmer summer evenings, Bonai Bar at Rustic Stone by Dylan McGrath has become a favoured haunt by many. The sophisticated, Japanese-inspired bespoke cocktails speak for themselves, and their selection of signature cocktails really are superior.

With summer soirées and backyard BBQs on the agenda, we caught up with Bonsai Bar mixologist Lucas Perrot to get the lowdown on how to create their incredible Spicy Watermelon Margarita at home.

Ingredients

  • 30 ml Don Julio Blanco
  • 10ml pink grapefruit liquor
  • 10ml pimento liquor
  • 15ml chilli & pink peppercorn syrup
  • 35ml lime juice
  • 10ml watermelon syrup

Method

  1. In a cocktail shaker, add Don Julio Blanco tequila, pink grapefruit liquor, pimento liquor, chili & pink peppercorn syrup, lime juice, watermelon juice, and a handful of ice cubes.
  2. Shake the mixture vigorously for about 10-15 seconds to combine the ingredients and chill the drink.
  3. Garnish the rim of the glass with salt.
  4. Strain the cocktail into a glass filled with fresh ice cubes.
  5. Enjoy!
