All the best movies and tv shows coming to streaming this May

May is shaping up to be quite the month, entertainment wise, so if you’re stuck for some viewing inspiration, here’s what’s coming to Netflix, Disney+, and AppleTV over the next few weeks.

Rye Lane

Out now on Disney+

After a brief stint in the cinema, Rye Lane is coming to streaming. A new kind of rom-com, the film follows two newly single 20-somethings still reeling from bad break-ups as they connect over a particularly eventful day in South London. Starring Vivian Oparah and David Jonsson, these two love-lorn people help each other deal with their nightmare exes, and potentially restore their faith in romance.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

Out now on Netflix

A new entry to the Bridgerton franchise, this series is a prequel to the original series, which is an ongoing adaptation of Julia Quinn’s novels. Starring India Ria Amarteifio, it takes us back in time to witness the Queen’s rise to power and arranged marriage to King George III. In a world where women are forced to meet rigid societal expectations, Charlotte struggles to find her voice and carve out her own love story.

Queer Eye: Season 7

Out 12 May on Netflix

The Fab Five are back and this season, the saints are marching into New Orleans. Transforming the lives of seven deserving heroes who are ready to show up for themselves and for each other, because it’s guaranteed to get emotional.

The Mother

Out May 12 on Netflix

J Lo’s latest project comes with one clear message: vengeance is a mother. After years of hiding out in the Alaskan wilderness, a military-trained deadly assassin returns to rescue the daughter she loved from afar. Starring Jennifer Lopez, Joseph Fiennes, Lucy Paez, Omari Hardwick, Paul Raci, and Gael Garcia Bernal, this film tells the tale of just how far one mother will go to protect her daughter she left earlier in life.

Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me

Out 16 May on Netflix

From director Ursula Macfarlane (Untouchable) comes this unflinching and humanising examination of the life, death, and secrets of Vickie Lynn Hogan — better known as model and actress Anna Nicole Smith. From her first appearance in Playboy in 1992, Anna Nicole’s dizzying ascent was the very essence of the American dream, brought to a tragic halt with her untimely passing in 2007. With access to never-before-seen footage, home movies, and interviews with key figures who have not spoken out until now, this film reveals new insights into the story of the quintessential blonde bombshell hardly anyone really knew.

XO, Kitty

Back for another adventure, this time her own, Kitty Song Covey thinks she knows everything there is to know about love. Reuniting with her long-distance boyfriend at the same Seoul high school attended by her late mother, it soon becomes clear that relationships are a lot more complicated when it’s your own heart on the line.

White Men Can’t Jump

Out 19 May on Disney+

This is a fresh spring on the iconic 1992 film that celebrates the streetball hustling culture of Los Angeles. Multi-platinum rap superstar Jack Harlow makes his movie debut as Jeremy, a former star of the game whose injuries stalled his career, and Sinqua Walls stars as Kamal, once a promising player who derailed his own future in the sport. Juggling tenuous relationships, financial pressures and serious internal struggles, the two ballers–opposites who are seemingly miles apart–find they might have more in common than they imagined possible.

Selling Sunset: Season 6

Out 19 May on Netflix

The stakes and stilettos are as high as they’ve ever been at the brokerage, as longtime agents make big changes and two new team members bring the heat.

Platonic

Out 24 May on AppleTV+

Friends don’t let friends have midlife crises alone. Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne are back together for the first time since Bad Neighbours (and its subsequent sequel) in Platonic, a series that follows a platonic pair of former best friends approaching midlife who reconnect after a long rift. The duo’s friendship becomes all consuming, and destabilises their lives in a hilarious way. The ensemble cast also stars Luke Macfarlane, Tre Hale, Carla Gallo, and Andrew Lopez.
