Dakota Johnson Won Last Night’s Red Carpet In Dior

Halle Berry and Jane Fonda both looked amazing on last night’s red carpet but Dakota Johnson and a chic navy Dior dress deserve your applause.

The Academy Awards are a lifetime away. The Met Gala has had its petit mort. Adieu Cannes. As we enter the final weeks of summer red carpet pickings are sparse, with any glimpse of full-on team of stylists and MUAs looks left to the odd premiere or royal wedding. This is why we’re giving Dakota Johnson, the actress whose descriptor will be Fifty Shades actress for the foreseeable future, a slow clap for what she wore last night to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Banquet. Her navy Dior dress was stunningly simple and paired minimalist heels, a scarlet manicure and a glorious smokey eye.

Other guests in attendance included Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry in a blue and lace dress who is 49 and defying science. Jane Fonda, whose iconic career is enjoying a revival thanks to her Netflix comedy Grace and Frankie, looked amazing in a black dress. Can we take a moment to draw your attention to her earrings? Give this woman a Newbridge collection.

Saoirse Ronan, who will be seen in period romantic drama Brooklyn – see the trailer here – presented onstage with English actor Andrew Garfield.

Hollywood’s favourite couple, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, also showed up, alongside everyone’s favourite fake stripper Joe Manganiello and the star of Lenny Abrahamson’s Room, Brie Larson, who accesorised a gold dress with a marbled clutch.
