Little 5-Year-Old Girl With Cancer Has Dream ?Wedding? To Her Nurse

This is the most adorable, heartwarming thing we’ve read all day. A five-year-old girl named Abby, who is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, had her dream come true this week as she ‘married? her favourite nurse Matt Hickling in an adorable mock wedding ceremony in the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancers at Albany Medical Center, New York.

The brave five-year-old simply told her mother in no uncertain terms that she was going to marry Matt, and the staff organised an incredible day for her, including a wedding cake, rings and a gorgeous dress for Abby herself. We almost can’t type this because we’re welling up about the whole thing.

No wedding is complete without the rings.
No wedding is complete without the rings.

The staff spared no detail, providing ring pops for wedding bands, and a pink toy car with a ‘Just Married!’ sign for the happy couple to scoot off in.

Abby’s mother posted a little about the event to her daughter’s Amazing Abby Facebook page, and explained how the whole thing came about. ?All week Abby had been telling me that she was getting married this week. I asked her to whom and of course she said Matt. They have always had a great connection since the beginning of her diagnoses. I texted Matt yesterday to give him a heads up on her cuteness and a received a text saying: “We’re planning a wedding tomorrow.” That was about all the information I got. I know the people at the Melodies Center and know their creativity and thoughtfulness but never expected all of this,? she explained.

...or the cake!
…or the cake!

Abby was thrilled and described the whole thing as ?the best day ever,? and will no doubt have some amazing memories. It’s just such an uplifting story, how adorable do they both look? The happy groom also had this to say about the day: ?This day will hopefully be one our patient and her family can always look back on and smile when days are tough. I know I will!”

The whole thing has since gone viral, and thousands have posted to the Facebook page to say how wonderful they thought the gesture was.

We can’t deal with the cuteness. Happy Saturday everyone.
