Roses are skincare’s new favourite ingredient

Roses are skincare’s new favourite ingredient

Roses are in bloom in skincare at the moment.

Soothing, toning, hydrating and antioxidant-packed: roses are blooming in new skincare launches, and not just for their gorgeous fragrance. These are the best new rose-infused launches.

Fresh Beauty Rose Face Mask, €62 at Space NK

Cult brand Fresh has come to Ireland via Space NK on Grafton Street and in Belfast. “What is special about Fresh,” Caglar Odabasi, Sales and Education Manager at Fresh told us, “ is that sensorial journey the products are going to offer you, and the effective result-driven usage.” That’s the perfect explanation for the cult hero  Fresh Beauty Rose Face Mask – the gel texture feels delicious on the skin and smells like wet roses, and skin is left soothed, calmed, hydrated and quenched.

Garnier Micellar Rose Water Cleanse & Glow, €8.95

“Micellar water is comprised of micelles,” Jennifer Rock tells us, “which are tiny balls of cleaning oil molecules. These micelles are attracted to debris and oil thus acting as a magnet to remove the residue from the pore. They are not a core concept, instead they are a Mickey Mouse version of skincare; it’s a cheat night, a quick fix that merely moves and smears makeup around the face.” If you must use micellar water, the new Garnier Micellar Rose Water Cleanse & Glow is a good option – it’s gentle on the skin, contains rose water and smells divine.

Alpha-H Balancing Cleanser with Damask Rose, €29.99

The new limited edition of Alpha-H’s much loved and creamy Balancing Cleanser contains rose damask flower oil. The same beloved effects remain; the skin is left completely clean, feels nourished and stripped skin feels repaired, where the addition of rose not only smells soft and calming, but gives anti-inflammatory benefits, extra hydration and even more soothing power.

Codex Beauty Bia Uplifting Soap, €20

Washing your hands is a genuine joy with Codex Beauty’s cold-pressed soaps, and the Uplifting formula, with moisturizing and protecting shea butter, sooting French pink clay and calming rose geranium leaves skin soft, fresh and smooth, plus there’s a delicious, boosting scent of Amyris, ylang-ylang and rose geranium.

Trilogy Rosehip Hydrating Jelly Mask, €23.95

Trilogy’s beloved rosehip oil has been reimagined in jelly form. Keep this jelly textured face mask in the fridge for a cooling, hydrating dose of moisture- boosting ingredients of rosehip oil, hyaluronic acid and manuka honey. Perfect for tired dull skin, your face will feel revitalised, hydrated and soothed.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm, €50

This edition of Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm is quite lovely, thanks to the addition of soothing rosehip seed oil for hydration swirled with the lifting scent of English rose. It makes washing off the day genuinely a joy, spotlessly removing all traces of make-up when used with the additional cloth hot and wrung-out.
