What I’m buying from the Chanel spring 2020 collection

What I’m buying from the Chanel spring 2020 collection

The Chanel spring 2020 collection is as dreamy as usual. But the desert tones — infinitely wearable and not intimidating — are of particular appeal

There’s nothing like the unbridled luxury of a new Chanel beauty collection to make me question what I’m doing with my life and make me want to go live in Paris and work as a penniless creative who makes beautiful art.

New season inspiration

This season, the global creative make-up and colour director for Chanel, used the colours of the desert as her inspiration for the collection

Chanel Exclusive Creation Éclat Du Désert

€55, chanel.com

Don’t get me wrong, every time there’s a special creation like this, I swoon. I swoon hard. However, I get the accompanying guilts about using such a treasured piece of beauty art. Truth be told, I’m still working my way through a pink/beige highlighting powder from another seductive Chanel collection, so I won’t be investing in this stunning desert-inspired beauty. Do read on.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Elemental (Limited Edition)

€53, chanel.com

What I will buy, however, is one of the incredible (both in texture and colour choice) eyeshadow quads. The one above, although limited edition, is divine. I always promise myself I won’t fall too deeply in love with any limited editions, but I fear I may have no choice here.

Chanel Ombre Première Laque in Quartz Rose

€32, chanel.com

This intrigues me, and for that reason I’d make the purchase. In this Ombre Première Laque part of the collection, there are five metallics to choose from.

The yellow-toned ones don’t appeal to me with my Irish pallor, but the rose one does. I’ll be swiping it onto the centre of my eyelid to create a halo effect.

Chanel Style Ombre et Contour in Contour Brun

€31, chanel.com

And lastly, I will absolutely be adding this to my collection. Not least because Chanel’s iconic kohl liners are superior to any I’ve tried. I am a brown liner gal to my core — don’t hand me a black one, I’m too soft for that.
