Geraldine Carton and Kate Hynes make Mother Art House, a new initiative designed to nurture creativity and foster genuine connection.

The world feels a little fractured and fast-paced right now doesn’t it? People are craving real connection and a break from the relentlessness. Enter Geraldine Carton and Kate Hynes—two Dublin-based artists carving out space for something slower, more intentional, and very human.

Mother Art House is a collaborative project between Geraldine and Kate—an online and in-person initiative designed to nurture creativity and foster genuine connection. Think of it as a modern-day Parisian salon: The one where people drank coffee in small cups late into the night and created art together and talked about topics that expanded their way of thinking. At its heart, it’s a thoughtful space for creativity and community; a project that is committed to helping birth new ideas, nurture creativity and, crucially, fill the hole that modern living has hacked out of our lives.

“Mother Art House is a place for people who want to make art amidst life and make living itself an art,” the founders explain.

Their offerings span both digital and physical worlds. Online, you’ll find thoughtful essays, creative prompts, and interviews with living artists. In person, they host morning art classes for mothers and babies, evening drawing sessions for adults, gallery meet-ups, and opportunities to create and showcase work.

Summer Classes Now Open for Booking

This summer, Mother Art House is running two signature drawing classes in Dublin, and bookings are open now.

Decaf + Charcoal — Adult Evening Drawing Class

  • When: Mondays, 8th June – 6th July, 7–8.30pm
  • Where: Fade Street Studios, Dublin
  • Cost: €30 drop-in / €140 for 5-week bundle (€28 per class)

A casual charcoal drawing class in a stunning high-ceilinged studio. Expect warm-up exercises, gentle guidance, and the freedom to draw at your own pace. Subjects vary weekly—still life, live models, and more—with input from attendees always welcome. Each session includes a coffee break (decaf or herbal tea) and the chance to connect with others who share a love of art. Come alone or bring a friend.

Milk + Charcoal — Mum + Baby Drawing Class

  • When: Wednesdays, 3rd June – 19th August, 10–11am
  • Where: Segotia, Rathmines
  • Cost: €33 drop-in / €150 for 5-week bundle (€30 per class)

A nurturing space for mothers to reconnect with their creativity—guided by Kate and Geraldine, who understand that motherhood is tiring and energy is finite. There’s no expectation here, just the invitation to pick up some charcoal and draw. The focus changes weekly, offering fresh inspiration while you build meaningful connections with a community of like-minded mothers. Babies welcome, obviously.

How to Book

All classes are available on a flexible drop-in basis, or you can commit to a 5-week bundle at a discounted rate. Full details and booking at motherarthouse.ie.
