Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Donald Glover will star in Mr. and Mrs. Smith series remake
The show will be based on the 2005 movie with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. We are here for this re-make.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Donald Glover will star in a new Amazon Prime Video series based on the 2005 film Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Everyone remembers the movie, which starred Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt as a pair of married killers-for-hire who are assigned to assassinate each other, but mainly everyone remembers how it was marred in controversy due to Pitt and Jolie’s much-publicised affair (sorry, but team Aniston forever).
Glover made the announcement via a story on his Childish Gambino Instagram page. In a statement, head of Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke called the pair a “dream team” for the studio.
“Talk about the dream team! Donald and Phoebe are two of the most talented creators and performers in the world. It’s truly a dream for us, as it will be for our global audience, to have these two forces of nature collaborating as a powerhouse creative team,” she told Variety.
As it happens, this won’t be the first project for the two; both were in the 2018 Disney movie Solo: A Star Wars Story.
The pair will star in and executive produce the series and we are so excited to see the remake being given the Waller-Bridge stamp of approval in particular.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith will air on Amazon Prime in 2022.
