Martin Scorsese made his TikTok debut this week and some might say it’s Oscar-worthy

Martin Scorsese and his daughter Francesa took the internet by storm this week, teaming up for the Hollywood heavyweight’s first foray into the TikTok world.

He may be one of the world’s most highly regarded film directors, producers, screenwriters and actors, but that doesn’t mean that Martin Scorsese is above the likes of TikTok. In fact, his first debut on the social platform immediately went viral, shooting him (and his daughter) to the top of the internet’s must-watch list.

Enlisting the help of her famous father for one of her latest TikTok videos, Francesca Scorsese introduced the world to a different side of the man behind movies such as The Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island and Gangs of New York.

The first of what one can only assume will be several more videos – at least if the success of this one is anything to go by – in it, Francesca set her dad the challenge of identifying different household beauty items, or what she refers to as “feminine items”. You know, eyelash curlers, beauty blenders, hair donuts and the like. All things that, to many of us, are fairly commonplace. But to Mr Scorsese? Well, guessing what they are (and what they do) proved a little more challenging.

Showing that he’s not wholly uneducated when it comes to the beauty world, Scorsese managed to hold his own and even recognised a number of the items shown behind him. Some of the terminology wasn’t quite right but he got the general gist. We’ll forgive him for labelling a moon cup “a flagon”, so long as he doesn’t attempt to drink out of one…

Claiming that she will “probably regret posting this”, the video has already amassed over 100k views since being posted two days ago. As is often the case with funny internet videos, not everyone was content with taking it for what it was and some viewers found issue with the quality of the clip, joking that it should be better considering who Francesca’s father is. Well familiar with the critics, no doubt he’s already told her to ignore the naysayers though.
