What’s On This Week: Your IMAGE Guide of Things to Do

Our guide to the events on our radar for this weekend and the coming week ahead. Happy weekend from IMAGE!

 Today:

Head to the Chinese New Year Food Extravaganza Here

The Chinese New Year celebrations will be taking place for the next two weeks, with a whole array of culture, language and of course food events taking place all over Dublin. Today’s Food Extravaganza takes place at the Asia Market at 18 Drury Street, Dublin 2 where visitors can expect exotic fruits, dumplings, flavoured oils, drinks, sweet treats and snacks, all while listening to special guests tell their stories of what Chinese New Year means to them. There’s no booking required and it’s free to head along.

Tomorrow:

See Ireland’s Fashion Radicals Exhibition Here

Ireland in the 1950s doesn’t exactly conjure up images of catwalks and glamour. But in fact, a small cohort of (mostly) women like the marvellous Sybil Connolly were working to change just that. Now, for the first time ever, their work is being celebrated and examined for how it affected the trends we saw in New York, Paris and London at the time. The exhibition has been running daily in the Little Museum of Dublin at 15 St. Stephen’s Green since late January and tickets are available for a guided tour of the entire museum from €8.

Next Week:

Go to Drinking in the Dark Here

This cool new event from Beefeater Gin is designed to have you access your senses like never before. You’ll be making the perfect Gin & Tonic while blindfolded, to understand the importance of utilizing your senses in constructing a gin. All the while, you’ll be listening to speakers Desmond Payne and Ciara Farrell talk about what goes into the perfect gin and if you mess up your own G&T, don’t worry – bespoke cocktails are served throughout. Tickets are available directly on Facebook for €24.24 each and the event takes place next Wednesday evening at 7pm at House Dublin on Leeson Street Lower.

See ‘Look Back in Anger’ Here

Said to be the play that sparked a generation of ‘angry young men’ when it first premiered in the 1960s, Look Back in Anger has come to the Gate Theatre under the direction of award winning Irish director Annabelle Comyn. Discussing themes of sex, politics, class, religion, the media and more, its discussion feels just as modern now as it did 50 years ago. Shows are on daily at 7:30pm, with tickets from €25-€38 from the Gate Theatre.
