My life in fashion: Five minutes with Beo Wellness founder Aoibhín Garrihy

Widely considered to be one of Ireland’s most fashionable women, Aoibhín Garrihy’s wardrobe is a colourful mix of bold power suits, comfy outdoor gear and beautiful knitwear. Here she shares more about her life in fashion.

Deciding what to wear each morning is… wonderful, when I have time! I really enjoy putting looks together when I have time on my side but, generally, it’s a mad dash in the morning with the smallies, so the go-to looks are the tried and tested options that I know will work, have worn many times and usually feature a signature pair of jeans, a knit, jacket or blazer and then basics underneath. The adventurous styling only happens on the weekend!

I choose my look each day depending on… my schedule, and the weather of course. If it’s a day with the kids, comfort is key and Regatta is my go-to. If I’m working and in meetings, I’ll make more of an effort to dress more formally and if there is something special on, I go all out!

The best investment I ever made in my work wardrobe was… a classic black wool coat. I call it my funeral coat – which sounds bleak – but in terms of cost per wear, it owes me nothing.

It takes me… 15 minutes to get ready, generally because that’s all the time I have. Usually, that’s interrupted too!

My biggest weakness… is a suit. I have so many flamboyant ones and the bolder the better!

The one fashion piece I would save in a fire is… my Chanel handbag. It’s an heirloom.

My style in three words
Considered, feminine, relaxed.

My relationship with fashion is… a love affair!

Heels or flats?
More often than not, flats since having kids… but I do love a killer heel.

My style icon is… Rosie Huntington Whitely because she NEVER gets it wrong.

My favourite time of year to dress for is… winter. I love party season and all the fabulous sparkles and velvet but I also love cosy knits and coats like the ones featured in my past Regatta edit.

Best style advice I’ve ever gotten
Less is more.

The ingredients of a good outfit are… a timeless staple teamed with one statement piece.

My current favourite piece of clothing is… my Regatta Fritha II Insulated Parka Jacket with Faux Fur Hood. It’s so warm and I love the colour.

Three wardrobe staples everyone should invest in
A great pair of jeans, a great blazer and a funky pair of boots.

If I could raid one person’s wardrobe it would be… Blake Lively’s wardrobe.

My fool-proof date night outfit is… something short, get the legs out!

My favourite fashion era is… the 80s. Peak Diana inspo.

I feel most confident when wearing… a suit – it’s the ultimate in power dressing.

Outfit with the most sentimental meaning?
The one I’ll never wear again – my wedding dress!

My best vintage find… my Cameo brooch.

Fashion is about… self-expression.

The most worn item in my wardrobe is… probably my Aran knit. It’s a classic piece that I’ve always loved.

My favourite person to follow online for style inspiration is… Clementine MacNeice who actually styled our Regatta shoot and made everything look amazing!

The last thing I bought was… a pair of Black Paige Jeans. They’re so flattering and so comfortable too.

On weekends I tend to wear… an array of outfits as activities always vary – from time with the kids, to date night to BEO events. So, weekends are my chance to be creative.

The piece I have my eye on right now is… a good black leather belt from All Saints.

This piece was originally published in November 2022.
