Kelly Horrigan: A week in my wardrobe

by Kelly Horrigan
01st Sep 2024

Starting modelling at the age of 15, Kelly Horrigan has spent most of her life working in fashion surrounded by beautiful clothes. When it comes to her own off-duty style, she favours simple, monochrome looks she can rewear in different ways. She shares a week in her wardrobe below.

MONDAY

I started the week hanging out with my son Louie at soft play followed by some errands and admin so I opted for a simple cosy knit and wide-leg pants. You will never catch me without a hoop earring, it’s my go-to accessory. I feel like they elevate every outfit and since I’m a die-hard slick-bun girl, they are a must for adding a little something something. I’ve gotten to that phase of motherhood where I don’t need to carry everything and anything when we go out so I’ve been loving dressing up my looks with cute bags again. This was something I really missed when I had to carry the kitchen sink in my giant baby bag! Louie and I pretty much always have coordinating looks but most of the time he’s better dressed than me!

TUESDAY

I headed into town today for a beautiful lunch so I wanted something a little bit more glam. I get so much wear out of this black maxi skirt, it’s super easy to dress up with boots or heels but it looks equally cool with trainers. I paired the skirt with a leather jacket my dad gave me from his 90s wardrobe and some kitten-heel boots. I love playing around with the shape of this jacket– today I tucked it up for a boxy silhouette.

WEDNESDAY

I started my day early filming in Virgin Media and then I was back in full Mommy mode so comfort is key today. I’m wearing a classic jeans and T-shirt look for ultimate ease. I’m obsessed with this Hanna Schönberg x NA-KD trench. I got it a few seasons ago, it’s super long and oversized and makes any simple outfit look so much cooler. I added a cap to distract from my very tired-looking eyes after a sleepless night with Louie and an early start. Louie is wearing an oversized hoodie, some straight-leg trousers and his classic Vans.

THURSDAY

I was back in town today for a meeting. I wanted something that looked put together but comfy so I went back to my trusty black maxi skirt, this time pairing it with a T-shirt and blazer. I love pairing classic, tailored shapes with more casual pieces! These loafers are so comfy, I can stomp around in them all day and I like how they change the look of the skirt that I’ve already worn this week. I am obsessed with skinny scarfs at the moment, I have to stop myself from putting them with every outfit but today was a skinny scarf day.

FRIDAY

Today was a shoot day so I generally keep it casual as I’m only wearing my own clothes for hair and makeup. Wearing something simple that I can slip over my hair is important so I almost have a uniform that I wear to set – comfy pants, a tank and a cardigan to dress it up. I’m back in my loafers and I added my work bag; a vintage Neverfull.

SATURDAY

Tonight we went for some cocktails and dinner so I opted for this classic black satin maxi dress topped with a structured blazer and some boots. I love simple, monochrome looks that I can wear again and again. I’ve worn this dress so many different ways – topped with jumpers, over tees or shirts – and it’s so versatile.

SUNDAY

As for most people, Sunday is a reset day for me so I spent it in these comfy adidas track pants and a warm wool jumper layered over a simple white tee. I added this cute silver bag for fun. We grabbed a coffee with Louie and went for a walk before cuddling up on the sofa for a Sesame Street marathon (for the hundredth time!). As if these adidas wide legs aren’t cosy enough, I was in my pyjamas by 3pm ready for my Sunday roast.
