Father’s Day: What to buy the whiskey lover in your life

This first-rate whiskey subscription is the gift that keeps on giving.

Fathers can be notoriously difficult to shop for. After all, there are only so many times you can buy them their favourite football paraphernalia, cringe-y dad joke cups and slippers. So, what might be something fresh you can give them that they’ll actually enjoy?

A Barrel Club Midleton Distillery membership is just the ticket. A unique alternative to the usual, stereotypical dad gifts, it offers plenty of perks in addition to regular deliveries of Irish whiskey favourites to their door. Plus, it is a present that they can enjoy all year long.

Widely regarded as the “beating heart of Irish whiskey”, Midleton Distillery in Co Cork is known for producing some of the world’s most well-known and successful Irish whiskeys. Their top brands include Jameson, Redbreast, the Spot family, Method and Madness, Midleton Very Rare and Powers.

The distillery’s new whiskey club, Barrel Club Midleton Distillery, aims to connect members to their whiskeys, old favourites and new releases, as well as the makers and distillation processes behind them. Member benefits include regular whiskey deliveries, whiskey education, access to new releases, virtual tasting experiences and distillery visits.

“Midleton Distillery has been at the forefront of Irish whiskey since 1825, thanks to generations of talented, enthusiastic, and innovative people,” says Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman.

“I am delighted to share the magic and charm of Midleton Distillery with people across Ireland through Barrel Club. We look forward to welcoming new members to our community, where together we will discuss, taste and enjoy what Midleton Distillery has to offer.”

What does the membership include?

Upon joining Barrel Club, each new member will receive a welcome gift box containing a personalised Distillery Edition bottle (with their own name on the label), two stemmed tasting glasses and a special journal, where they can record tasting notes.

They can also look forward to a notable whiskey delivery to their door each quarter, which includes a limited-edition 700ml whiskey bottle along with three 50ml samples. Each consignment has a unique theme and is handpicked by Kevin O’Gorman and his team at Midleton.

Other perks include exclusive access to distillery whiskey education, virtual tastings and a ticket to an in-person experience a behind the scenes tour of Midleton Distillery in Co Cork or a whiskey blending class at Jameson Distillery Bow St in Dublin.

Annual membership retails at €499, including shipping within the Republic of Ireland and will be available to purchase until July 31. But hurry, there will only be a limited number of memberships available during this joining window!
