What’s Tickling Our Fancy? Feathers

What’s Tickling Our Fancy? Feathers

Prada paraded them proudly on the catwalks this season (above), and we’re totally taken by the offbeat vibe of feathers this summer. Here’s how to add a whimsical finish to any summer outfit.

This tweed skirt from Zara could feel very ordinary were it not for the cute feather pockets. They add an unconventional touch, and transform this piece from nondescript to right on trend. If you’re not wild about the matchy matchy look here, pair the skirt with a denim shirt for something a little more laid-back.

This is one of my favoutite feathered pieces right now. A plain, slightly boyish-looking grey T-shirt is completely reimagined with a white asymmetric feather trim. Worn with a fabulous skirt, this is the modern way to do cocktail wear.

I like the mix of a chrome heel and double feather design offered by these Uterque mules. Both materials play off each other to create a nice point of difference. An easy way to incorporate feathers into your wardrobe, they’ll look fabulous with a dress or denims.

I love the quirkiness of this Isa Arfen Top. Brown, blue and orange feathers sprout haphazardly from the shoulders of the crinkled cotton-blend T-shirt. The trim elevates a simple white-top into something entirely unique.

For a different take on the trend, try a feather necklace, of which there are many on the high street right now. It brings a completely different type of texture to an outfit. The softness of the feather motif contrasts nicely?with the patina metal finish.
