Wedding guest outfits for women who don’t like florals, frills or fussiness

Wedding guest outfits for women who don’t like florals, frills or fussiness

Wedding guest outfits have moved on from the fussy, overly feminine, incredibly elaborate get-ups of yesteryears; although you wouldn’t know it if you’re still shopping in certain high-street stores. However if you broaden your search, you’ll fine a host of contemporary pieces that are feminine and modern without any unwanted fussiness. Here’s the kind of outfit I’d choose if I was attending a wedding this summer.

This is my kind of dress; simple and with minimal detailing. The drape is chic and elegant, and the shade of caramel flattering to most skin tones. Gold jewellery would dress this up beautifully and make it perfect for a summer wedding.

Satin fluted dress, €100 (reduced from €120) at Arket

Okay, so this dress has a hint of a frill, but it’s restrained, and because the overall style of the dress is clean and simple, the detailing looks modern and interesting. Swap the ankle boots for heels to make this piece wedding-party perfect.

Raw edge dress, Asos White, €62.21 (reduced from €103.69) at asos.com

If you want to stand out among the sea of pastels that inevitably appear at weddings, go for something like this exquisite silk halter-neck maxi dress. It’s completely backless so a very sophisticated choice. I love how it drapes so beautifully for a really effortless look.

Limited Edition maxi dress, €399 at Massimo Dutti

Cos can always be relied on to cater for women who prefer a restrained aesthetic. This draped dress would look really elegant paired with heels and a clutch bag. The colour is warm and fresh, and the cut is directional without being too statement.

Asymmetric draped dress, €69 at Cos
