The Best of NYFW Street Style

By Jeanne Sutton
11th Sep 2014

Sure, the runways are where next year’s wardrobe is at but it’s the streets outside the venues for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York where the real influencers are gathering. As Coco Chanel said, ?Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.? Here we spy the trends and looks that have us hovering over the Aer Lingus website with transatlantic thoughts.

The orgy of street style stars and their photographer foot soldiers is now synonymous with Fashion Week. While we onlookers adore watching the phenomen from afar, insiders aren’t too receptive. This time last year Oscar de la Renta even went so far as to call the accompanying scenes outside shows a ?circus?. Whichever way you sway, here’s how to sex up a trench (no tights, a smile, dozens of admirers).

The inimitable Susie Bubble dropped by and mixed prints with floral ablomb. She’s a must-follow on Instagram as she globe trots all the front rows in the next few weeks.

We’re big on the quirky accessories?this season – check out Jo’s edit in this month’s magazine for some portable kook – and now we’re wondering which novel we ought brandish in order to send a sartorial message…

This gal’s tee is how our hypothetical wallets yearn to feel – broke, but wholly satisfied because the nineties with a modern twist is this year’s sole aspiration. We love a leather skirt this time of year – and from what we’ve seen at all the recent high street previews so do you – however what make you of the S&M suspenders?
