Shearling, oh how I’ve been waiting for you! In honour of autumn’s debut, I’ve been on the hunt for the most perfect shearling jacket. But I found ten. Autumn is all about doubling up on cosy layers, and I can’t wait to find my new signature cocoon because honestly, what’s more comfortable than shearling? It’s like wearing around a giant, warm hug.

Orginally worn by fighter pilots shearling jackets breathe old-school nostalgia. Today, designers including Dior, Philosophy, Burberry, and Tod’s, have introduced a modern twist with boxy cropped designs, vintage patchwork, and colourful styles. Coming in a myriad of classic neutral shades, but also in hyper-hued dyed colours, you couldn’t miss this warm fabric, it’s one of the leading coat trends for AW18. While I’m absolutely on board for shearling everything and anything, I prefer reaching for rainbow colours, printed knee-grazing cocoon coats, ultra-fuzzy textures, and something oversized, like a fluffy blanket.

I’d pair any shearling jacket with stretchy corduroy pants and white low-rise ankle boots for autumnal perfection, with a quirky charm. For a feminine touch, wear yours with a straight-leg jean and a floral blouse. Whatever the style, keep it cosy. And don’t forget your Pumpkin Spice Latte and a cute beanie; then you’ll really have autumn written all over you.
