With party season just around the corner, IMAGE Contributing Fashion Editor and stylist Sinéad Keenan has pulled together her ultimate festive fashion edit.
Whether it’s the office party, dinner with friends or hosting at home, I’ve got you covered with looks that will see you through every event this Christmas season. At this time of year, it’s all about those special pieces that can be mixed and matched and bring a festive feel, whether you’re going for high glamour or elevated comfort.

Look 1. The Statement Coat
I love starting with a statement coat, it’s such a great way to make an entrance and instantly elevates whatever is underneath. I’ve teamed this silk brocade style by Irish designer Aoife with a metallic tweed dress and you could add a sheer layer if you wanted to feel a little more covered up. Then Nicki Hoyne glitter pumps on your feet and a pretty evening bag, and you’re done.

Look 2. The Sequin Party Dress
The sequin party dress is a classic for a reason. This metallic mini dress from Zara has a really fun retro feel and I’ve teamed it with this season’s must-have party layer – a cropped faux fur coat by Stand Studio to add that touch of old school glamour.

Look 3. Velvet
Velvet is always my go-to at Christmas, it just feels festive without being too much. This moss green suit from COS is relaxed but polished; you can wear it with a satin cami and add metallic accessories to dress it up a little.

Look 4. Luxury Winter White
If you want something softer and more understated, winter white always feels so elegant. I have layered Max Mara ivory cashmere and silk and Philosophy sequin pants for a tonal, luxurious look that’s still really wearable. It’s perfect for entertaining at home or if you’re going out for Christmas lunch, then you should wear champagne gold accessories to keep the hues harmonious.

Look 5. The Elevated Knit & Sequin Skirt
The elevated knit and sequin skirt is one of my favourite high-low combinations. The texture clash of a super soft, embellished sweater teamed with a metallic sequin skirt like this one from Avoca makes it a perfect look for when you want to be comfortable but still feel dressed up. If heading out, this grey wool cocoon coat and glitter soft boots finish the look off beautifully.

Look 6. The Tuxedo
Finally, the tuxedo. It’s timeless, sharp and incredibly cool. I’ve styled this hourglass smoking jacket from The Frankie Shop with their satin, button cuff trousers and then added this beaded collar coat from Louise Kennedy for that touch of luxury.
That’s my ultimate festive fashion edit: a mix of timeless pieces you can dress up or pair back, re-wear throughout Christmas but also long after the holidays are over.
