Lisa O’ Connor: A week in my wardrobe

by Edaein OConnell

Lisa O’Connor, 32, is an actor and writer from Co. Clare, now living in South East London, with a flair for sustainable style. On her TikTok page, @shopslowwithlisao, she champions second-hand fashion – wearing it boldly and proudly, confident she’ll be the most uniquely dressed in the room – while inspiring others to embrace slow, sustainable shopping too. Here she shares a week in her wardrobe.

MONDAY

This outfit was found in my local charity shop in West Dulwich in London. It’s an affluent area and the store is full to the brim with brilliant quality brands like Jigsaw, Boden and this wool athleisure dress from M&S. I got it for £12.50! My brown loafers are a hand-me-down from my brother. They’re from the world-class, Viennese shoemakers Ludwig Reiter – impeccable quality and made to last. The look is finished with my Paloma Wool leather bag that I bought to treat myself for passing my driving test at the ripe old age of 31.

TUESDAY

Max Studio is a sister brand of Max Mara, and I found this lush, soft-pink, polka dot blouse in my local charity shop again for £12.50. I paired it with vintage Arizona shorts that were a hand-me-down from my cousin. Then I finished the look with these sheer Sezane ballet flats that were a gift from my fiancé and my trusty Paloma Wool bag again, because I never take it off.

WEDNESDAY

Even on a lazy day, I still try to look decent. Here I’m wearing a beautiful pair of shorts from the Japanese designer Issey Miyake. These shorts are from his famous Pleats Please collection, and again, they’re a hand-me-down from my brother. The top is a Paloma Wool creation that I found on Vinted, and the deep, burnt orange complements the navy shorts. My shoes are the Yeida leather ballet flats from Miista. I bought them on Depop and I wear them to death.

THURSDAY

I adore the colours of this outfit. The top is from the Australian brand Lioness, and I found it on Vinted. The bright, blue leather bag is from the souks in Morocco, and I bartered my soul away for this beauty. My mules are from Miista, and my shorts are vintage M&S from a charity shop. The bright blue beads make the outfit fun and playful, and I uncovered them in a vintage shop in Edinburgh.

FRIDAY

This skirt is Prada, and it’s my most cherished charity shop find from a store in Chiswick, London. I love a skirt over trousers because I think it’s so elegant and cool. I’ve paired the skirt with a Paloma Wool top I found on Vinted, and the colours go perfectly together. My bag is vintage Coach, and I purchased it from Depop.

SATURDAY

This dress might look like a Rixo design, but it is not, and in my opinion, it’s better. It’s actually a vintage Per Una, and the quality is so weighted and hangs beautifully. I found it on Depop for £16 several years ago. It’s been worn casually, for film premieres and a wedding. The powder blue shoes are super special, and they’re from a small, sustainable brand called Vandrelaar – I highly recommend you check them out.

SUNDAY

A bit of drama on the day of the Sabbath, and sure, why not? This dress is vintage Miss Selfridge, and it was found in the wonderful vintage shop ANSA in southeast London. I love the combination of the different purples, and the tights are from Calzedonia. The little kitten heels have done me so well these past few years. They’re vintage Next and I got them on Depop for £11.
