Met Ballin’

By IMAGE
06th May 2014

The Met Ball was on last night and if you weren’t up watching the photographs of nothing but designer gowns coming in over the Twitter wires fear not. We went through them all and have picked out some of our favourites and have unanimously voted Suki Waterhouse the winner in her champagne Burberry gown. Very well done. Cara Delavingne’s pre-party with Stella McCartney looked proper fun and Kim Kardashian made up for last year’s optical illusion dress, choosing some navy Lanvin for the red carpet.
The theme of this year’s gala was ?Charles James: Beyond Fashion?, referencing the British-born fashion designer who went on to be known as ?America’s First Couturier?. He was one of the first proponents of the strapless gown and pioneered the ‘taxi dress’, so-called because it?was easy slip into in the back of a cab.?
In other dress news, Instagram princesses Kendall Jenner and Rita Ora opted for Topshop and Donna Karan respectively. The Other Woman star Kate Upton wore some occassionally sheer Dolce & Gabbana while making a case for the return of the floral headband. In couple wars, Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth won in the cute selfie category while the Beckhams worked those clean lines. However, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds walked away with all the prizes in matching Gucci. Brava Bravo.
