It’s a bubble skirt summer, here are our favourites

The latest skirt trend to take over, bubble skirts come in varying lengths but have one thing in common; a ruffled hemline resembling a fluffy white cloud.

According to Julia Hobbs, Fashion Features Director at British Vogue, “It’s a great season to buy a personality skirt”, and bubble skirts certainly hit the mark in that department. With a silhouette not dissimilar to a giant dollop of whipped cream, they’re deliciously bouncy and fun, go great with ballet flats and have been a regular occurrence on designer catwalks as of late.

However, while its popularity has surged in recent weeks, the style has been around much longer. In the 80s, voluminous taffeta versions were all the rage; nowadays, the mini seems to come out on top.

Patterned or pastel, long or short, there’s a bubble skirt to suit. Shop our edit below.
