The ultra-cool piercing brand Maria Tash is now a fashion staple. Here we take a look at some of the best pieces to gift either yourself or a loved one this Christmas

Gone are the days when you made your way to the local pharmacy to get your ears pierced with the gun.

Back then, your choices were mainly diamonte stud or gold hearts. It was a simpler time, but it wasn’t as chic.

Nowadays, we have Maria Tash. The jewellery brand’s first store opened in 2004 in New York and in the years since, numerous others have appeared in cities such as Rome, London, Dubai and our own capital, Dublin. Maria revolutionized the world of piercing with bespoke and stylish jewellery. Celebrities including Charlize Theron and Rihanna are fans with the latter sporting Maria Tash jewels at the British Fashion Awards.

Many of the IMAGE staff have been ‘TASH’D” too, with many of us finding it to be quite an addictive hobby (I should know, I have three).

The difference between normal piercings and Maria Tash is the curation. The Dublin store is situated in Brown Thomas and its staff are experts on the much sought after ‘curated ear’. They carefully select piercing placement and complementing jewels to create what can only be described as a beautiful jewellery crescendo.

These piercings don’t come cheap and are quite special, which is why Christmas is the perfect time to treat someone you love (or yourself) to some Maria Tash goodness.
