I can’t believe how many pieces from the Holly Loves collection for Marks & Spencer I love

I can’t believe how many pieces from the Holly Loves collection for Marks & Spencer I love

I’ve never identified with Holly Willoughby’s style. It’s a little too cutesy for me. So I was really surprised by her latest edit for Marks & Spencer, Holly Loves. The 15-piece collection, which is available online and in stores from today, has a strong utilitarian vibe and is dominated by softly tailored pieces in fresh linens and comfortable cottons. That’s right up my street.

Comprised mostly of separates, it cleverly presents a harmonious palette of pieces that can be worn together or used as basics to anchor some of summer’s statement shades. So whether your style is subdued or more showy, there’s actually something here for everyone. Plus being a Marks & Spencer collection, it’s all perfectly pocket-friendly. Always a bonus.

My favourite is the khaki jumpsuit. It’s just a great weekend throw-on, although I also think it would look cool unbuttoned a little and worn over a lace camisole with heels. Maybe not Saturday night wear, but certainly great for drinks with friends.

Utility wear jumpsuit, €75

Linen is such a great fabric for summer because it’s a natural material so is breathable and beautifully fresh to wear. I refuse to spend a lot of money on white shirts because inevitably they end up with make-up marks on the collar that never really come out properly, so at €40, this piece is a great buy. I love the simplicity of the cut and the masculine hit off it.

Unfortunately I don’t have the legs or the skin tone for this mini skirt, but I have a friend who would look amazing in it. I love the idea of this simple button-front mini with flat tan sandals and a T-shirt; effortless and chic.

Ecru skirt, €34

I find I always want to travel lighter during the summer months, so crossbody bags are ideal. This tan version with minimal buckle looks just about the right size to carry my wallet, phone, keys and lip balm. At €55 I doubt it’s real leather, but it still looks nicely textured, which I love.

Crossbody bag, €55
