Meet the real-life fashion icons behind Netflix’s Hollywood

Have you watched Hollywood yet? We are hooked on the latest Netflix release, so we decided to take a look at some fashion moments of the real-life characters on the show

Hollywood is the latest Ryan Murphy TV series to capture the imagination of Netflix viewers.

Following Glee, American Horror Story and The Assassination of Gianni Versace, the television heavyweight set his sight on the golden era of Hollywood.

The miniseries follows a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers trying to make their dreams come true post World War II. Starring Darren Criss, Laura Harrier and Jim Parsons, the series is a visual feast. The setting is sumptuous, providing the most perfect old school glamour aesthetic. While the costumes are a fashion lover’s dream. Sharp tailoring for the men and elegant gowns and skirt suits for the fierce female ensemble.

The show merges both fictional and real-life characters. Hollywood legends such as Vivien Leigh and Susan Hayward make guest appearances along with many others. These individuals are historic. Hattie McDaniel, for instance, was the first woman of colour to win an Oscar. Anna May Wong was the first Chinese-American movie star.

To mark the series release, we decided to take a look at some of the biggest fashion moments of these real-life stars.

Through photoshoots to the Oscars, they each made an impact with their sartorial choices. These images give us a glimpse at a different time and life but show that fashion is always central to any era.
