Dry skin? Here’s how you can keep it glowing and hydrated all summer long

If you suffer from dry skin even when you moisturise, you may need to reassess your skincare routine…

Sometimes, even if we’re doing all the right things, we still get frustrating results with our skin.

Now that we’re in the throes of summer sunshine and the days are hotter than ever, it can be even more difficult to protect our skin from becoming dry in the heat and burnt from the rays.

Despite using serums, masks and moisturisers, stubborn dry skin can persist if we’re not taking the right measures.

Here are some crucial steps that should not be missed if you want to keep your skin glowing and hydrated all summer long…

Olay

Exfoliate

One reason for dry skin could be due to a build-up of dead skin cells on the surface, and there’s only one surefire way to get rid of them: exfoliate. Not only does it promote the regeneration of the skin, but it provides a deep cleanse of the skin barrier, removing any and all dirt that may have accumulated on the surface of your face. Ideally, you should be exfoliating twice to three times a week, depending on your skin type.

SPF

If you’re not applying a generous layer of SPF — even when the sun is stubbornly hidden behind pesky clouds — you need to start ASAP. If you’re venturing into the sun, you need to pop on some SPF at least 20 minutes before exposure, and reapply it immediately after swimming, exercising, or sweating. SPF should be applied after moisturiser or serum, and should ideally be a minimum of 30+, but extra pale Irish skin should absolutely stretch to 50+.

An ultra-hydrating moisturiser

Without a doubt, the most important step to combating dry skin is scoping out the ingredients of your moisturiser to make sure it has exactly what you need. Olay Vitamin C + AHA24 has a supercharged formula with Lactic Acid (an Alpha-Hydroxy Acid) and Niacinamide. The result? A game-changing formula that ultra hydrates skin tone.
