Six beauty Instagram accounts the pros follow (and why you should too)

We’re all well aware these days that 100K+ followers on Instagram doesn’t necessarily indicate superior quality content. I realised this when, in spite of having what I thought was a well curated feed, my scrolling finger was growing tired and my eyes were almost rolling out of my head from the lack of originality I was seeing.

The sign of a truly high calibre beauty Instagram account, I discovered, is this. When you see other industry professionals who are at the top of their game also follow the account. For instance, I adore Katie Jane Hughes (who features in this list, of course). So when I see her follow a new account, I check it out – an endorsement from someone as effortlessly cool as Katie is good enough for me.

Here’s Katie and five of her beauty industry peers who are worth following:

Katie Jane Hughes @katiejanehughes

WHY? She doesn’t Photoshop her skin, she’s utterly cool and has a slew of celebrity clients she doesn’t need to shout about.

Celine Bernaerts @celine_bernaerts

WHY? She’s topping 112K followers who love her unique take on beauty. She’s recently bleached her eyebrows too – obsessed.

Linda Hallberg @LindaHallberg

WHY? She runs her own cruelty-free makeup line, she has skin that flares up (just like ours) and she embraces the natural look as much as intensely bold colours.

Tatiana Rose @tatianaroseart

WHY? Her makeup really is art. She masters both eyes and lips with a dual focus, and takes the most stunning retro-style pictures.

Greta Agazzi @greta_ag

WHY? Based in Milan, Greta’s imagery will stop you in your scrolling tracks every time. This lip image says it all, for me. Incredible talent.

Nikki DeRoest @nikkideroest

WHY? Celebrity clients (of which there are many) aside, this girl finds the line between wearable and impactful and nails it every single time.
