Nail artist Lauren Michelle Pires on how to recreate her raindrop pearl nails

Lauren Michelle Pires is a London-based manicurist and kind of a big deal. She’s worked for Chanel, Nike, Topshop, Glossier, Stella McCartney and lots of other brands you love, creating bespoke, intricate and beautiful nail designs coming soon to an Instagram feed near you.

Last season, at Charlotte Knowles, Lauren hand-placed over 400 tiny flowers onto 360 nails so we couldn’t wait to see what she’d get booked for this season.

For Yuhan Wang’s second season at Fashion East, Lauren paired Yuhan’s delicate pastels with some very extra raindrop pearl nails, extended right down onto the fingers. Here, Lauren shares how it’s done.

“Trim and file your nails down to your desired length, making sure they’re all even, then apply some cuticle oil onto the skin at the top of your nail, and gently rub in.”

Gelish Nourish Cuticle Oil, €6

“With a cuticle pusher, gently push back your cuticle to help elongate your nail bed. Apply some nail polish remover to a cotton pad and wipe your nails thoroughly, ensuring you remove any oil.”

Cutex Twist & Scrub Sponge, €1.95 at Dunnes Stores

“Apply one thin lick of basecoat to help your manicure last longer and protect your natural nail, then two thin coats of Jessica Nails in Dare To Dream to give a healthy flush of colour to the nail. Allow to dry for 10 minutes.”

“With your favourite topcoat, apply an even layer onto each nail. Whilst this is still wet, delicately apply varied sized pearls onto your nails with some tweezers.”

“If you’re feeling adventurous or heading out to a special occasion – you can elevate this look by adding smaller pearls onto the skin of your fingertips.”
