Do you ever dream of Elle Macpherson’s beach waves, or Margot Robbie’s sleek lob?

The Australian stars always appear red-carpet ready, and always serve us major hair goals.

What if we told you that you too could style a slick curl, or neat finger waves, at home by yourself?

Look no further than premium haircare range Eleven Australia, which has now landed in Ireland.

The brand, known for its cult Miracle Hair Treatment, launched with a bang and a splash of colour at Dublin’s Smock Alley last Tuesday night.

Hair industry professionals came in their droves to nab samples of the new range, including a sea salt texture spray and deep clean shampoo, and catch a glimpse of co-creators Andrew O’Toole and Joey Scandizzo.

The iconic Smock Alley location was decked out in a sea of stripes for the event in partnership with IMAGE, keeping in theme with the Aussie brand’s colourful logo.

Telling the crowd he injured one of his moneymakers – his right hand – in a snowboarding accident, multi award-winning hairdresser to the stars Scandizzo entertained the crowd with stories from his partying days, which included some namedropping, like the period where he had to cut model Elle Macpherson’s fringe on a weekly basis.

After winning Australian Hairdresser of the Year four times, and running 12 hairdressers and barber shops across Australia, Scandizzo shows no signs of slowing down as he discussed his new Eleven range with passion.

His partner in crime O’Toole, who boasts an equally impressive career, having been named Australian Photographer of the Year and worked with hairdressing legends like Charles Worthington, revealed to image.ie that he and Scandizzo met in a rather unconventional way.

‘We met at an after party at the Australian Hairdressing Awards and Joey wasn’t on my radar then – I’d been working in Europe, for years, with photographers,’ said O’Toole.

‘I walked in and this guy was dancing shirtless on a podium. I could hear from the other side of the room “Andrew O’Toole” – and that was Joey Scandizzo. That was my first interaction with him. He’d heard of me, I’d just moved back to Australia from the UK so I was just finding my feet in Australia… And here we are 16 years later.’

Scandizzo told image.ie his version: ‘Back then I was a young kid … and Andrew was a superstar photographer who I really wanted to work with. So I jumped on the podium and yelled out his name, and made eye contact and we got chatting, the rest is history.

‘We’ve been working together for 10-15 years and we’ve got a great relationship, a bit of yin and yang. We’re two different people but we’re great mates.’

‘The connection between me and Joey is one of the strongest parts of the brand,’ said O’Toole. ‘If we can’t communicate that effectively, in a normal hair show, we feel this [launch in Ireland] is a more important way … maybe it touches the public a bit more than a normal hair show.’

Eleven Australia has a range of premium shampoo and conditioners, from deep cleanses to ‘Keep my Colour’, as well as hold hairspray, detangle spray, anti-frizz treatments, volume foams, body washes, and much more.

Eleven Australia products are available in selected salons nationwide.
