Twitter reacts to news that Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles are dating

The duo appears to have confirmed their romance at a wedding over the weekend. And Twitter has thoughts.

Honestly, there is not a soul on this earth who didn’t have a crush on Olivia Wilde when she played Marissa’s girlfriend Alex during The O.C.’s second season. And that seems to include Harry Styles.

Spotted over the weekend holding hands as they attended the wedding of Style’s manager, Jeff Azoff in California, the two were photographed by Page Six holding hands. While the hand-holding doesn’t quite have everyone on Twitter convinced, multiple outlets have reported that they’ve been quietly dating for a few months.

It comes just after it was confirmed that Wilde and her partner of eight years, SNL alum Jason Sudeikis, split in early 2020. They share two children together.

Styles is set to star in Wilde’s upcoming film Don’t Worry Darling, alongside Florence Pugh, Chris Pine and Dakota Johnson. Wilde is directing and producing the movie, which is about a utopian community living in the California desert in the 1950s.

Shia LaBeouf was cast in the role originally, but he was fired by Wilde during the summer for supposed “poor behaviour”. It was revealed in November that two of LaBeouf’s ex-girlfriends were suing him for sexual and physical assault. 

While Wilde and Styles have caught us all off-guard with their romance, the internet has been positively brimming with approval. The two are already established creative forces on their own – Styles in his music career and Wilde, whose directing debut was wildly funny and charming 2019’s Booksmart, has already been tapped to develop a female superhero movie for Marvel, rumoured to be Spiderwoman.

Many focused on the commentary around the alleged new couple’s age difference – Wilde is ten years older than Styles.
